LtCol Brian S. Pegram was commissioned in November 2007 after completing the Officers Candidate Course in Quantico, Virginia. Upon graduation of The Basic School in July 2008, he reported to 2d Battalion, 10th Marines at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and served as the Headquarters Battery Executive Officer before reporting to the Field Artillery Basic Officer Leader Course, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Following graduation in February 2009, he was designated a Field Artillery Officer and assigned to Battery R, 5th Battalion, 10th Marines.
In April 2009, he deployed to Camp Dwyer, Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM (OEF), serving as a Platoon Commander with the Brigade Headquarters Group, 2d Marine Expeditionary Brigade-Afghanistan. Upon returning from deployment, he was assigned as the Fire Direction Officer and Headquarters Platoon Commander. In July 2010, he was assigned as the Battery Liaison Officer and attached to 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines, again deploying in support of OEF as the Battalion Fire Support Coordinator and Information Operations/Effects Officer.
In September 2011, he was assigned to the Marine Corps Artillery Detachment, Fort Sill, Oklahoma as a Fire Support Instructor. He instructed three platoons of Marines, Soldiers, and international officers in the Field Artillery Basic Officer Leaders Course III. In May 2013, he was assigned as the Deputy Director of Academics, coordinating and instructing the Marine Artillery Officer Basic Course, Marine Battery Commanders Course, and Artillery Battalion Pre-Command Course.
In May 2014, he reported to Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, Virginia as a student. Upon graduation in May 2015, he was assigned to 5th Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment at Camp Pendleton, California. He commanded Battery Q for one-year, relinquishing command in June 2016 to serve as a Maritime HIMARS Detachment Officer-in-Charge, deploying in direct support of a Joint Task Force in support of U.S. Special Operations Command Overseas Contingency Operations, and Operation ODYSSEY LIGHTNING. Upon returning from deployment, he served as the Fires Plans Officer and Operations Officer.
In July 2017, he reported to the College of Naval Command and Staff, U.S. Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island as a student. Following graduation, he was directed to assume command of Recruiting Station Indianapolis, Indiana. After successful completion of his recruiting command tour, he was assigned to 2d Battalion, 10th Marines to serve as the Battalion Executive Officer.
After 20 months as Battalion Executive Officer, he was selected to deploy as a Joint Individual Augment, serving as the Deputy Fire Support Coordinator, Security Assistance Group-Ukraine, United States European Command in support of Operation ATLANTIC RESOLVE. Upon return from deployment in October 2023, LtCol Pegram was assigned as the Regimental Executive Officer, 10th Marines until June 2024 when he assumed command of 2d Battalion, 10th Marines, 2d Marine Division.
LtCol Pegram's personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with two gold stars), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon. He is also a member of the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara.
LtCol Pegram holds a Bachelors of Business Administration in Management from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.
LtCol Pegram is married to the former Kristal D. Sharp. Together they have two daughters, Bailey and Charlotte.
