Colonel Soucie is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in May of 2002. Upon completion of The Basic School, he attended the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and was subsequently assigned to Battery S, 5th Battalion, 10th Marines serving as a forward observer.
In September of 2004, he deployed to Iraq as a Provisional Rifle Platoon Commander with Regimental Combat Team 7 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II. In June of 2006, he deployed with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), Special Operations Capable, during a Landing Force 6th Fleet deployment as part of Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 8th Marines and participated in the non-combatant evacuation operation of Beirut Lebanon while serving as the battery executive officer.
In February of 2007, Colonel Soucie was assigned to 2D Air-Naval Gunfire-Liaison Company, II MEF, as a joint terminal attack controller and in October of 2007 he deployed to OIF 6-8. Following these duties, he was selected to serve as the Aide-de-Camp to the Commanding General of the II Marine Expeditionary Force for 13 months. In March of 2010, Colonel Soucie graduated Field Artillery Captains Career Course at Fort Sill.
Colonel Soucie was then assigned to 5th Battalion, 10th Marines where he assumed duties as Commanding Officer Battery S. After a successful battery command tour, he was selected to serve as the Company Grade Monitor at Headquarters Marine Corps, Manpower Management Officer Assignments from May of 2011 to June of 2013. He was subsequently selected to serve as a Commandant of the Marine Corps Fellow to the US Agency for International Development from 2013-2014 during which time he deployed to support disaster relief operations in the Philippines. From June 2014 until June 2015 Colonel Soucie studied at the US Army’s School of Advanced Military Studies earning an operational planner degree. He then served as the plans officer at US Marine Corps Forces Korea from 2015-2017 working operational and support plans for the sub-unified command.
He returned to the US and was assigned to the 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, California in June 2017 to serve as the executive officer for 1st Battalion, 11th Marines and then as the Operations Officer for the 11th MEU. In May 2019, he deployed with the MEU as part of a Western Pacific Deployment. During this time, he was selected to command 3/10 which was not fully activated due to force design. Colonel Soucie was then selected for top level school while serving as the Executive Officer of the 10th Marine Regiment. He executed orders to the US Naval War College where upon graduation he was reassigned to 2d Marine Division and assumed command of 1st Battalion, 10th Marines in June 2021. He commanded the Security Force for Operation ALLIES REFUGE/ALLIES WELCOME as part of Task Force Quantico following the evacuation Afghanistan refugees during this tour. While in command the battalion supported nine global force management rotations in support of the Unit Deployment Program and MEU deployments. Following his successful command tour he joined the Office of the Secretary of Defense Red Team where he served as the Staff Director and Adversary Amphibious Warfare Strategist from 2023 to 2025. Colonel Soucie is slated to command the 10th Marine Regiment.
Colonel Soucie's personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal w/ silver star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/ two gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device and gold star, Combat Action Ribbon, the Humanitarian Service Medal w/ two bronze stars, the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the German Armed Forces Badge in gold, and the Honorable Order of St Barbara Medal. He holds master’s degrees from Marshall University, The School of Advance Military Studies, and the US Naval War College. He is a Massachusetts Institute of Technology Seminar XXI National Security fellow.
