Sergeant Major, 10th Marines
Sergeant Major Giovanni A. Lobo

Sergeant Major Giovanni A. Lobo enlisted in the Marine Corps in January 1997. Following completion of Recruit Training at Parris Island, SC and Marine Combat Training (MCT) at the School of Infantry-East, he reported to Ft Leonard Wood, MO and received the 
MOS of 3531, Motor Vehicle Operator. 
 
In July 1997 Sergeant Major Lobo was assigned to 2d Marine Regiment, Camp Lejeune NC, where he deployed to Turkey and Nova Scotia participating in several joint exercises. In December 1999 he reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 171, Iwakuni, Japan and served as the Medium Section Leader in the Motor Transport Platoon. 
 
In October 2000, Sergeant Major Lobo was promoted to Sergeant and received orders to Marine Barracks 8th & I, Washington D.C. where he served as a Platoon Sergeant. In May 2004, Sergeant Major Lobo returned to the 2d Marine Division and was assigned to 3d Battalion, 8th Marines where he served as the Motor Transport Platoon Sergeant, promoted to Staff Sergeant in October 2005 and served as Motor Transport Operations Chief. During this tour, Sergeant Major Lobo deployed to the Al Anbar Province Fallujah, Iraq in January 2005 and later redeployed with the Battalion in March 2006 to Al Anbar Province Ramadi in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
 
In January of 2007, Sergeant Major Lobo reported to the School of Infantry-East and assigned as Instructor, and subsequently a Platoon Commander, and Battalion Training Chief, Marine Combat Training Battalion. In January 2009 Sergeant Major Lobo was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant, and assigned as Company Gunnery Sergeant and Company First Sergeant, Company H. 
 
In March 2010 Sergeant Major Lobo reported back to 2d Marine Division where he served as the Motor Transport Chief, Battery R, 5th Battalion, 10th Marines and deployed to Okinawa, Japan and the Republic of Korea in support of the Unit Deployment Program. 
In September 2012 Sergeant Major Lobo reported to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Command Element where he served as the 24th MEU Motor Transport Chief during the MEU's 2012 deployment onboard the USS NEW YORK's maiden deployment.  
 
In October 2012 Sergeant Major Lobo was promoted to First Sergeant and received orders to Camp Pendleton, CA where he served as the Company First Sergeant for Company E, 2d Battalion, 5th Marines and deployed in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and participated in various joint exercises
 
 In August 2014 Sergeant Major Lobo returned to Camp Lejeune where he assumed the duties of the Battery First Sergeant, Battery A, Ground Combat Element Integrated Task Force In support of the Force Integration Plan, line of effort three until the units deactivation.
 
In July 2015 Sergeant Major Lobo reported to Marine Corps Combat Service Support Schools (MCCSSS) Camp Johnson where he served as the First Sergeant for Financial Management School.
 
In February 2017, Sergeant Major Lobo reported to 6th Communication Battalion, Brooklyn, New York as the I-I Sergeant Major. In March 2019, Sergeant Major Lobo assumed duties as the Sergeant Major, 3d Battalion, 2d Marines and deployed to the Kingdom of Norway as part of the Marine Rotational Force-Europe. 


From March 2021 through June 2023, Sergeant Major Lobo served as the Regimental Sergeant Major, 6th Marines. 


In July 2023, Sergeant Major Lobo assumed his current assignment as the 10th Marines Regimental Sergeant Major. Sergeant Major Lobo is married with three sons.
