Who we are

Provide fires in support of 2d Marine Division using organic indirect fire assets while coordinating both lethal and non-lethal fires from other II Marine Expeditionary Force fire support agencies in order to suppress, neutralize or destroy enemy.

Colonel Soucie is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in May of 2002. Upon completion of The Basic School, he attended the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and was subsequently assigned to Battery S, 5th Battalion, 10th Marines serving as a forward observer.

Major Matthew J. Simpson was born in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1985. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2003 and attended Basic Training at Parris Island, SC. He attended the School of Infantry, where he became a Mortarman. He was assigned to Weapons Platoon, Kilo Company, 3D Battalion, 23D Marines. In 2007, he attended the Infantry Mortar Leaders Course in Camp Pendleton, CA.  Major Simpson then deployed as a vehicle commander and artillery observer with Kilo Company from 2007-2008 in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. Upon returning from deployment, Major Simpson served as the mortar section leader and weapons platoon sergeant until his commissioning.
